weight loss, NOT

So I've gained four pounds in my weight loss endeavors. It's such a joy. Really. I asked my rheumatologist last Friday what kind of exercise I can do and he just looked at me, all goggly-eyed (as opposed to googly-eyed), and said "Why? I thought you were still in pain." To which I replied "Yes, but I'm always in pain and if that were my excuse I would never exercise. Besides which, isn't it best to lose weight in order to reduce the strain put on my joints?" He agreed, and told me that if I really must exercise, something in the form of a low-impact aerobic exercise would be good. I asked if insurance would cover a health club membership or anything and he said probably not. Which doesn't bode well, as my attempts at finding low-impact aerobics videos have come to naught so far. Apparently the entire universe wants to do fast-pased, kill-your-joints-while-you've-still-got- 'em exercise. *sigh* My other options are to take up walking, which is incredibly painful, bicycling (I don't have money for a bike, either stationary or not), or water aerobics with the little old ladies (also expensive). God just wants me to be fat (maybe there's some sort of apocalyptic winter scenario heading our way that I need to survive. Yeah.).

weight loss & stuff

So I've decided to also make this my weight loss diary as well as my venting place. Weight loss stuff will be public, but venting will still be friends-locked.
My weight loss goals:
-to be stronger & healthier so I can run & play with the kids more
-to put less stress on my already deteriating joints
-to not develop a heart condition or diabetes, both of which run in my biological family
-to lose 30 pounds before I turn 31
Sound good? I think so
Some of my plans for this weight loss include:
-drinking much less carbonated caffeinated sugary crap & replacing it with non-sweetened green tea
-choosing healthy things when we go out to eat (no more french fries & fried chicken fingers)
-doing one of the 3 exercise videos I own every day except Sunday (yoga, pilates, or balance ball)
-only one small bit of chocolate or candy per day (moderation is a good thing, yes?)
